A new class of movers and shakers enter various industries each year. Some of them hold the top spot for years at a time, while others simply pave the way for newcomers to come in and make their impact. To onlookers, they’re known as “goals” and set the tone for how some people want to live their lives. To most publications and media outlets, as well as business platforms, these individuals are known as moguls.

Known for earning a top amount of money in their respective craft and industry while making a difference to their peers and in the community, moguls are highly respected and grace lists of publications like Forbes that highlight their most notable achievements. Moguls exist in every industry and have learned that there are multiple ways to earn revenue while staying true to yourself and what you love to do.

“Is she a stripper, a rapper, or singer?” What started off as an Instagram and social media sensation, Cardi B has now become pop culture’s most stapled item. Going from the television screens of Love and HipHop New York to the top of Billboard charts, Cardi shows you how to hustle and never forget who you are and where you come from. With almost every single and musical feature that she’s graced her fans with, either going platinum or gold, Cardi B has proven that she’s here to stay. Venturing away from music, Cardi also inked deals with fashion brands and most notably, created her own collection with Fashion Nova. The rapper-mogul will also be one of the few entertainers to have a Pepsi commercial during the 2019 SuperBowl.

Rihanna, Beauty/Music:

Although fans are constantly bombarding the singer with questions about her next album, Rih has made her mark in a different industry. Since the announcement of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna has become a staple and household name in the cosmetic and beauty industry. Creating an inclusive product line that offers over 50 shades of foundations and releasing must-have glosses, highlights, and lipsticks, she’s proven she knows what the girls want and delivers. While fans are still awaiting new music, this hasn’t slowed down the singer’s streams on music platforms. At the age of only 30, Rihanna still has a ways to go and is showing that there’s more than one way to make a coin and set yourself up for success for years to come.

Making waves and an impact on and off the court, Lebron James is arguably one of the greatest of our time. Earning championship rings in the NBA and being compared to some of the greats like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, James is making a lane of his own. Adding to his repertoire of athleticism, he also serves his community and underserved communities with philanthropic efforts and events. More recently, James has taken his efforts and has landed an entertainment deal with HBO for his unscripted series, ‘The Shop.’ Determined to leave a legacy behind on and off the court, James recently opened a charter school, Promise School, in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Saying that opening the school is “One of the greatest moments” in his life, James and staff serve some of Akron’s most challenged students and provide education, career, and emotional support for their parents as well. Currently, the school is open for third and fourth graders and has plans to expand yearly, accepting all greades 1-8 by 2022.

While some may scoff at the mention of her name, you can’t doubt that Kylie found her lane and is quickly rising to the top. Although she was born into wealth, she didn’t allow herself to become comfortable and only collect money. Kylie Cosmetics is one of the most sought out beauty and makeup brands. Beginning with just lip kits that offered many shades of lipsticks and lip liners, the brand has now extended to pigmented eyeshadows for women of all shades. At the tender age of 21, Jenner has earned wealth and generated a stream of income that far exceeds the realms of social media posts.

The list of today’s moguls continue, but we’d be here listing names and achievements forever. These moguls show the concepts of hard work and consistency as well as following your dreams and passions. It’s never too late to start on a dream and it doesn’t matter where you come from, the top is achievable.
